Welcome to the Cutting Edge
Welcome to Alpha on the Edge: The AI and Algo Trading Digest. We're thrilled to have you join us on this exciting journey where cutting-edge technology meets innovative strategies. Our mission is to give our readers high-quality insights and research.
And that’s not just some marketing speak. Here, we’re in love with actual, real results.
What motivates us to do this? The internet and social media have libraries of information for traders and investors already, after all. At the same time, we are absolutely flooded by superficial, shallow backtests and strategy evaluations. You know the type - a catchy headline or YouTube title card promoting "1340% performance!" or "Always beat SPY with this one trick!" or "I can't believe this one trade worked!"
As we all know, it's not that simple. It's never that simple. Take a sexy, seductive backtest to live trading and, sometimes.... KABLOOEY - the account explodes.
With Alpha on the Edge, we want to go further. We want to create and share in-depth research, warts and all. Even if a strategy dives off a cliff, we believe you deserve to know that. We believe that as much as "ZOMG ONE MOONSHOT OOS BACKTEST" gets readers excited, it's incomplete at best and misleading at worst.
So we want to share analysis that goes deeper, covers more ground, and actually provides useful information.
We're in love with experimentation of all kinds, so we'll be working with a wide spectrum of strategies, ranging from straightforward approaches like moving average crossovers to more intricate methods involving deep neural networks. We’ll focus on two main types of posts:
Strategy Explanations and Evaluations: Breaking down rules-based algorithmic trading strategies, their mechanics, potential risks, and rewards. We want to put these strategies through the metaphorical wringer and see what comes out looking strangest.
Experimentation with AI and Machine Learning in Trading: AI and deep learning are exploding right now, and the financial world is still getting the hang of it. We have a lot of fun tinkering with learning models, and we want to share what we build and find.
Although we can cover a lot of ground, we do not want this to be an unorganized heap of backtest results. Just emptying a dump truck of data helps no one. We are committed to adding context and highlighting what we think you will find interesting. That way, Alpha on the Edge can be closer to an actual digest with real, practical information.
Thank you for joining us here, and don't hesitate to speak up. We're excited to hear your thoughts and your feedback as we explore the cutting edge of finance.
